About the Program

If you think you have to wait until you graduate high school to go to college, think again. The Bucksbaum Early Entrance Academy empowers high-achieving students to begin full-time on-campus study at the University of Iowa after their sophomore year of high school. We support you, and a cohort of your peers, every step of the way.

Bucksbaum Early Entrance Academy

The Bucksbaum Academy is an early entrance program that allows academically talented students to enroll at the University of Iowa as full-time, degree-seeking students. Academy students live in university housing, take university courses, and participate in campus life alongside their peers.

The University of Iowa is a premier public research university offering over 200 areas of study. Located in Iowa City, frequently ranked among the best college towns in America, the university provides a vibrant academic and cultural environment.

Are You Ready?

Students who are a good fit for the Bucksbaum Academy typically:

• Have a GPA greater than 3.50
• Score 30+ on the ACT or 1410+ on the SAT
• Demonstrate social-emotional maturity and independence
• Show genuine enthusiasm for intellectual challenge

How to Apply

Applicants must submit an application to both the University of Iowa and the Bucksbaum Academy. The application includes transcripts, test scores, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation.
