Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

About the Program

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation's longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7-12. As the Iowa and Midwest Region-at-Large Affiliate, the Belin-Blank Center accepts art and writing submissions for these two regions, judges those submissions, and holds an awards ceremony recognizing regional winners.

Timeline

• Submissions Open: October 1
• Submissions Close: December 8
• Regional Awards Announced: January 29
• Regional Celebration: March 7
• National Awards Announced: March 25, 2026

How to Submit

Students submit their work through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards website. Submissions are accepted in a wide range of art and writing categories.
